Scenario Based Training: You are not just shooting at paper targets. You will face situations that are totally open- ended. A real person, perhaps two, will come upon you. They may represent a threat or they may not. You must make critical decisions under this stress, and if you do not think this is stressful, please think again.

The person or persons may be asking directions, they may have map that drops and there is a gun in their  hand. You must make not only the shoot/don't shot decision, but the decision to display (present) the weapon or not, as well. Even displaying a weapon when it is not legally justified is a felony in most states, and can get you prison time. Also keep in mind that a convicted felon can't even legally own or possess a firearm!

The scenarios you will go through are in part based on actual case studies and the modus operandi of armed robbers and other actual criminals.

After you run through a few of these scenarios, this alone will clearly show you that many of the things constantly argued and written about in gun magazines about what's needed to survive a "gunfight" are really like arguing "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin."

A TUFF GUN SCENARIO FOR AN EXPERIENCED ATTENDANT

The scenario below is an example of a difficult one, but the attendant here is an experienced large-city police officer. He is playing the part of an off-duty cop, not in uniform, whose car has broken down in a bad part of the city.

The person in gray appears and has a map in his hand, and is asking directions. The officer is immediately aware that he can not see both of the person's hands, and thus the man may already have a weapon in his hand. He demands to see the man's hands in a command voice.

The officer is experienced, and so he does not allow his vision to "tunnel in" only on the single guy in front of him. He keeps a broad field of view and looks slightly to his right and left. He thus detects the movement to his far right, and spots the gunman coming out from behind the obstruction.

He turns and fires immediately as he sees the pistol in the second man's hand.

But  the second man  continues firing on him  (since he has not yet felt the hits of the rubber bullets), and the first man is still a potential threat, as well.

His third shot drops the gunman. But notice the officer's lateral movement. He is not only making himself a moving target, but is actually interposing the first man into the gunman's field of fire.

With the gunman down, the officer's pistol is now trained on the first man, who is closing on him. Notice there is just no time to use the sights of the weapon at all. If this is not clear to you now, it certainly will be after you go through a few of these scenarios.

Continuing his lateral movement, the officer is moving diagonally away from the potential knife-wielding assailant. He sees the knife, and the man is charging him. He fires, dropping the man. This entire sequence has occurred in only one and one-quarter seconds.

Weapon Retention and Hand-To-Hand Combat

There may very well be a time when a 'perp' tries to take your gun. If he succeeds, you will  likely be shot, and may end up dead.

Most firearms courses totally neglect this
vital aspect of using a firearm for self-defense.

But here at RMCAT, our reputation for teaching hand-to-hand fighting by this adrenal stress,  ARMORED  ASSAILANT,  scenario-driven  methodology has truly developed for us an international reputation. People have come from Israel, Japan, Brazil, Canada, and Germany, and from every major city in the U.S.,  to take our full RMCAT H2H self-defense course.

In the hand-to-hand combat segment of this class, we can't give you the full weekend long program,  of course. But I would be quite surprised if you did not increase your unarmed self-defense capability and weapon-retention ability at least 100% in this three-hour segment.

We start wherever your skill-level (or total lack of same) is, when you arrive here. Hence, not everyone gets the same intensity of a fight. The man in the white tee-shirt above is a US NAVY SEAL, so he gets a very tough fight. But he gave back a tougher one, as you can see!

The girl at left had no previous hand-to-hand training at all. But when she left RMCAT, she was a terror!

Real fighting is mostly about getting your mind right, and she did just that!

Attendance at the firearms weekend course is by application only. If you wish to apply, click the word "Application" to be brought to an online application form. We are very attentive that we provide you with the most realistic and practical course possible, therefore class size is limited to 10 persons, as a rule.

On our range you will be firing live ammunition from a variety of weapons.

It is our position that one should be familiar with the operation and safe handling of virtually any weapon type.

This includes the pump-action shotgun, and various military  pattern weapons which are in common use.

Pistols such as the Berretta 92F and the 1911, .45 Automatic and the double- action SW 586 will also be used.

In addition to the scenario- based training, weapons-type familiarization, and live-fire exercises, you will also become familiarized with the the basic laws concerning the use of lethal force, in both "duty to retreat" states and "non-duty to retreat" states.

You will have a  much more realistic idea of how the legal system actually works - and frankly, it can be a monster that can devour you and all you own. Most especially if you are naive to its operation. This legal instruction goes far beyond all but one firearms course that we are aware of. That course is Mas Ayoob's Lethal Force Institute.

"This course was all it said it was going to be, and really much more. So many ideas I had developed from reading  gun magazines about using firearms for self-defense in the real world, well those ideas changed dramatically after I did the scenarios. You know the truth of it, once you experience it." John Baxter

"I was amazed at how much I learned here, and in so short a time period. They have this program down pat! It's fun, and scary as hell sometimes, too!"

"Worth every penny and more. Peyton does not call himself "the   doc," but he sure has the prescription for accelerated learning. I thought the hand-to-hand weapon retention segment would have to be pretty basic. But again, the way they do it is so intense and real, you see that martial arts are mostly just that - "art" - and not really self-defense. That part of the course alone was invaluable to me. I know I have a chance - maybe a good one, too - in hand-to-hand altercations. The drills show you things you just had no idea were true about a fight. The 'bulletman' was incredible to be able to hit full force to the knee, full-on to the groin and head. You really learn to hit real hard real fast, with this unique training method. I am going to come back for sure,  for the full 'bulletman' course."

The shotgun is loaded with paper wad only, and a reduced-powder charge. In this scenario the woman might be disarmed. If so, she would have to use the shotgun as a club, like one might use a heavy rifle that was out of ammunition. Therefore, the attacker is wearing his full armor so he can take full-force butt  strikes to the head, or perhaps a full-force knee or shotgun-butt strike to the groin.

But as it actually went down, she just moved to the corner and fired the weapon when he refused her order to stop.

ACCOMMODATIONS & MEALS
